WELCOME!
We are happy you have taken the time to visit our home on the web, we are working hard to develop this web site. It is our goal to provide all of the Disaster and Emergency Preparedness information we offer in our office, as well as provide information to emergency responders in our community and surrounding areas about our current operations, available training opportunities, and a wide variety of other services pertaining to emergency management and response.
What is Emergency Management?
Emergency Management is by no means a new concept, we stem from the days before World War II when the American People began to realize the threat of the Evil Axis Powers, then we were called Civil Defense. Today, the Axis of Evil and their terrorist friends have threatened our homeland again, and we stand ready. Semper Procinctu - Our Motto, simply means "Ready for Battle" If you would like to know more about ABC - Emergency Management click below in our history page.

IMPORTANT
INFORMATION
THE EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM
We have all heard the EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM break into television or radio at some point in our lives, most of the time when this happens it is a test and you are in the middle of your favorite television show, or the underdog team is about to throw a pass. During the summer months the EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM goes into full swing, warning you of possible thunderstorms, when a watch is issued, and warning you of impending dangerous storms when a warning is issued. Did you know the emergency alert system is used for other emergencies and disasters as well? In a major emergency the emergency response forces in the field may need to provide you, the public, with important information about what to do, and what actions to take, this information could mean the difference between life and death. The Emergency Alert System offers the quickest and easiest method for distributing this information. When the system is activated we send what is called a Civil Emergency Message out on the Emergency Alert System, this message will be displayed or broadcast the same way test messages are broadcast on a regular basis. Information provided will be brief, to the point, and will be repeated, more than once. When a Civil Emergency Message is broadcast you should take it seriously and do exactly what it says, remember even though the message may not say this, it would be a good idea, to have your disaster supplies kit with you, when you follow the directions of the message. The Emergency Alert System, has saved many lives over the years, most of those are during severe storms, when weather alerts are issued, however the Emergency Alert System in the past has been responsible for saving lives during other emergencies as well. Know your terminology when it comes to the Emergency Alert System. When a WARNING is issued, this means the condition is real and you should take immediate action to protect yourself if the warning is for your area. When a WATCH is issued, it means, there is a possibility of the event happening, for example, a flash flood WATCH indicates conditions are right for flash flooding to occur and you should be prepared if something were to happen.
