Welcome to the Boyd County Emergency Planning Committee Homepage, located on the ABC - Emergency Management Web. 

The Local Emergency Planning Committee consists of members from business, industry, emergency response, and the public who work to fulfill the requirements of the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act, concerning a communities "right to know" about Hazardous Materials which are shipped, produced and stored within the community.  The LEPC meets on a quarterly basis at the Ashland, Boyd County, Catlettsburg Emergency Operations Center, and meetings are open to the public. 

The LEPC's primary task is emergency planning and community preparedness for Hazardous Materials, they work hand in hand with the Emergency Management Office to provide for these missions.  Boyd County LEPC is a member of the "Wally Wise Guy" Program.  Wally a turtle, teaches children and the public the importance of being prepared for chemical emergencies, and provides information on sheltering in place.  Wally Shelters in place by going in his shell.
