EMERGENCY AND DISASTER PREPAREDNESS |
|
|
"Don't Be Scared!" "Be Prepared!" A disaster or emergency may strike with little or no notice, while most people realize this fact, most are not as prepared as they should be. During a disaster or emergency the emergency response forces in your area are going to be overwhelmed with calls for service, attempting to save life and property. While the emergency response agency's job is to protect the people they serve, there are instances where you, yes you, could help yourself, freeing up emergency response forces for individuals and families who were not as fortunate. We all have a responsibility to help ourselves and be prepared. We are not asking you to go it alone, and we are certainly not asking you to not call for help when you really need it, what we are asking is that you prepare yourself and your family. Develop a family disaster plan, and put together some supplies in case of an emergency. Look to the pages concerning family planning and disaster supplies to begin this planning process. Please help make the job of the emergency responder easier, by being prepared, not scared! Sheltering in Place Questions? Click here to learn more about sheltering in place!
