The transmission of diseases happen every day, as humans it is nearly impossible short of living in a bubble that you can prevent the spread of all germs, however the best way to stay healthy is to use common sense. Illnesses spread through contact between humans could be considerably stopped in their tracks if people would wash their hands often, cover their cough (in your elbow not your hands you touch things with) and use common sense. Fear and anger is not the answer in response to H1N1 or any other illness. Unfortunately people die from illness, thousands die each year from the seasonal flu, before you panic over H1N1 or the swine flu, learn how to prevent it. are all users of the system called NIXLE.

NIXLE, a community information service in which local residents can sign up and be sent important community information messages via email and text. These messages are created by Agency Personnel and is another way we can get messages to the public in an emergency or for other community and preparedness events. You can subscribe to 911, Ashland Police or ABCEM separately and are able to customize your message by priority and type. To sign up and find out more visit, www.nixle.com

NIXLE provides their services for free, however you must be aware if your wireless phone or messaging provider charges for text messages, you may be charged your normal text messaging rate when you receive messages from us.

Once you register for NIXLE you will have to subscribe to the wire for 911, the emergency management office, and Ashland Police separately. As other agencies come online in our community, you will be able to find them on the link above.
